Prof. (Dr.) Shiva Kumar GN is a distinguished academician and educational administrator with over three decades of rich experience in teaching, research, academic governance, and institutional leadership.

He obtained his Master’s degree in Politics and International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, and earned his Doctorate with a specialization in Soviet Foreign Policy, focusing on crises in Eastern Europe.

He has played a pivotal role in advancing Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online education systems in India. His contributions include serving on statutory bodies of various universities and strengthening academic and administrative frameworks, particularly in West Bengal and Karnataka.

An active contributor to academic and public discourse, he has published extensively in reputed journals, magazines, and national newspapers on contemporary political and international issues.

In recognition of his exemplary leadership and dedication to student support services, he has been honoured twice by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
