Open Basic Education (OBE) Programme

1. Student Eligibility and other important points

Level A

  • Minimum Age: 8 years before the commencement of examination (8 years as on 31st March (before exam)
  • Equivalent Class: Grade 3
  • Documents Required: ID / Address Proof – Aadhaar, Passport, etc.(any government-recognized identity or address proof)
  • Five Subjects: Two languages along with three academic subjects

Level B

  • Minimum Age: 10 years before the commencement of examination (10 years as on 31st March (before exam)
  • Equivalent Class: Grade 5
  • Documents Required: ID / Address Proof – Aadhaar, Passport, etc. (any government-recognized identity or address proof)
  • Five Subjects: Two languages along with three academic subjects

Level C

  • Minimum Age: 13 years before the commencement of examination (13 years as on 31st March (before exam)
  • Equivalent Class: Grade 8
  • Documents Required: ID / Address Proof – Aadhaar, Passport, etc. (any government-recognized identity or address proof)
  • Six Subjects: Any two languages along with four academic subjects

2. Programme Details

Level A

  • The curriculum will be in accordance with NCERT guidelines.
  • Annual examinations for all enrolled learners will be conducted in the month of April / May.
  • This programme is applicable to all Accredited Institutes offering education up to Class 8.
  • Centres will be required to collect assignments and conduct theoretical examinations for their learners and submit the evaluated marks to BOSSE as per the procedure laid down in this regard.
